Because Play in Ecclesall, Play in Hallam and Play in Harrogate are all doing so well and because we love a new challenge here at Play in Ltd, we will be opening our FOURTH Holiday Club this summer! Look out for Play in York coming soon to...you guessed it...York! We will be based at Millthorpe School and can't wait to spread the 'Play in' ethos, fun and energy to a whole new city! 

We will, of course be offering the high level of care and fun-filled days you have come to expect from us here at Play in Ltd, and we will also be offering a whole new variety of Yorks finest extra-curricular activities for children to experience in their days at the club. We can't wait!

It may seem like a long time ago that we asked our Play in Dore children to take part in a sponsored read..but we are happy to say that a brand new box of books (which the children who took part helped to choose) has arrived and we will be letting all the children explore and discover these lovely new books today!

We are VERY excited to announce that since leaving King Ecgberts School in October, we have been very busy looking for the perfect venue to host holiday club…and we’ve found it! The new venue for holiday club is Silverdale School, and with this new venue comes a new name…
Welcome, Play in Ecclesall, opening 19th February 2018!

Silverdale School is just 10 minutes drive away from King Ecgberts School. This was a big priority for us as we wanted to be able to continue to provide a great local service to all our existing children and parents who have come to rely on the closeness of King Ecgberts as a venue.

We can’t wait to get settled into Play in Ecclesall with the kids! Silverdale School provides a lot of great new opportunities for the club with more space available to us, a home economics room for cooking, drama studios, large indoor sports facilities and even larger outdoor space including Astroturf and large playing fields! As well as all the usual indoor space for arts, crafts, science and games.

As you will know, all children booking onto holiday club this Christmas holiday (2nd-5th Jan 2018) will be at Play in Hallam at King Edward VII Upper School on Glossop Road. We can’t wait to see lots of your faces there, and are looking forward to seeing many of you in February for PLAY IN ECCLESALL!!

Come the new year we have breakfast club spaces available. We are open earlier than most breakfast clubs at 7 am (allowing you to get to work that bit earlier!) and we offer a discount if your child already attends after school club! We serve a range of healthy and filling breakfast options including cereal, toast, fruit, waffles, pancakes, jam, spreads and milk. We can also cater to any dietary needs your child may have. Please contact us or speak to a member of staff in person if you would like to know more, inquire or book your place!

Can you believe it's nearly 2018!? Just a quick reminder to parents that school, and therefore after school club, opens after the Christmas/New Year Holidays on Monday 8th January 2018. We will be back feeling fresh and excited to welcome you back into the new year after hopefully seeing many of you at Holiday Club over the Christmas break. If you are planning on changing any of your child's normal after school club days in the new year please inform us now so we can accommodate these.  

We are extremely excited to announce that we have an exclusive Photography Workshop coming to Play in Hallam this Christmas Holiday! On 2nd January, ALL children at the club will have the opportunity to learn some creative photography skills and a few tricks of the photography trade from a professional protographer, whilst also having a go themselves! We can't wait to see the snaps they come up with!

After the huge success and fun had at our first Play in Harrogate week in October Half Term, we have found a more permanent venue for future Play in Harrogate Holiday Clubs! We are very excited to be opening the doors to Harrogate High School, where Play in Harrogate will be based from now on. Our next holiday dates are 2nd-5th January 2018. As most of you know, Play in Ecclesall Holiday Club has been based at King Ecgberts School since we opened in 2015. We have enjoyed many fun, exciting and memorable holidays there with many of your children and can’t wait to make more holiday memories in the future. However, October half term was our last holiday club at King Ecgberts. The school will be carrying out various construction, building and improvement works on the school over upcoming holidays and in the interest of the children’s safety, we and the school have decided that it will no longer be a safe environment to be based.

BUT...please don’t panic! Play in Ecclesall WILL still be open. We will be based at King Edwards Upper School on Glossop Road this Christmas holiday (amalgamating with Play in Hallam who are already based there), and we are already looking for a new, fresh location, as close to Ecclesall as possible which we will hopefully move into by February half term.

Play in Hallam is run by the same team (plus a few new faces) and offers the same high quality of care you have come to expect from Play in Ecclesall. We offer the same extracurricular activities as well as swimming on Wednesdays!

We will keep you all updated on any further holiday club news, but for now you are able to book onto Play in Hallam for the Christmas holidays via the online booking system on the www.playinltd.com website. Christmas holiday dates this year are 2nd-5th January 2018. See you there!

We love a big Christmas party here at Play in Ecclesall and the last few years have been a huge success, so please join us at Totley Rise Methodist Church for our annual Christmas party on Thursday 21st December. Every Play in Ecclesall child and their parents are invited! Feel free to bring your child to the Church from 4 and either stay for a mince pie and a chat or leave them and collect them before 6. There will be food, party games, Christmas crafts and a special visit from a surprise guest! The party will be from 4-6pm however please note that we will only be able to collect children who are already booked in normally on a Thursday from school. Children can feel free to bring their best party clothes to change into or even rock a festive jumper with the rest of the staff!

All we ask is that you can let us know in person whether your child will be attending ASAP. This will allow us to plan catering and staff. Thank you!

We are SO excited to have the wonderful make up artist Stephanie Simpson of Pout and Blush coming in on the spooookiest day of the year to teach everyone a few tricks (and treats) of the trade! She will lead an hour workshop where all children will get to learn how to do their own spooky face paints, and even get to see some special effects tricks and get to have a go themselves!

Here at Play in Ecclesall, we all know how lucky we are to come from caring and loving homes. That's why we are hoping to help some of Sheffield's women and children who have been victims of domestic abuse, by donating to their Christmas appeal. We are asking all our children at after school club who wish to take part to bring a new (or quality second hand), wrapped toy to us before our Christmas party. These will be sent to the charity and given as gifts on Christmas day to children who may otherwise not receive any other presents this Christmas. We ask that if the toy is for a specific gender, you label it 'boy' or 'girl'. Gifts can include things such as soft toys and teddies, board games, construction (such as lego, k'nex), dolls, action figures, hair/nail varnish kits, arts and crafts sets etc. Please no food or drink or sharp objects. Thank you.

At Play in Ltd, your child's safety and happiness is our top priority. In order to make sure everyone is aware of our club's behaviour rules to keep everyone safe and happy, we wanted to remind all parents and children of our 3 Golden Rules, which apply to after school club and holiday club:

1) Be polite and respect each other

2) Listen to staff instruction

3) Keep hands, feet and objects to myself

Failure to follow these simple rules will result in:

1) A verbal warning

2) Time out (according to child's age e.g/ a 6 year old will have 6 minutes time out, a 10 year old will have 10 minutes etc.)

3) If behaviour persists and child is not responding to 1) and 2), a phone call to parents will be made to collect their child

In order to help all children follow and respect these rules, please show them this post or simply remind them of the 3 Golden Rules!

You asked-we listened! In response to requests from some parents for a Homework Club at after school club, we have made one available. For 15 minutes after snack time every day (or longer if a child wishes), children will have the chance to complete homework with a staff member to assist if necessary. This should give them more free time to spend with you at home! HOWEVER, the last thing we want to do is create a school environment after they've already had a long day at school and we will never force any child to complete homework against their will. Our main focus will always be their well being and happiness and promoting this through play. The homework club will be an optional provision for your child, but if there is any particular homework you would like us to assist with, please just ask, we're happy to help!

We're sure many of you parents at after school club have already met our newest team members but we just wanted to give them a proper introduction. Both Amanda and Becky hold BA Hons degrees in Early Childhood Studies. Amanda is our newest Senior member of staff with over 7 years of childcare experience and Becky is our newest Play Worker with experience as a Teaching Assistant and Childminder. We're loving having them on board and as you can probably tell from the photo, they're a great addition to the team!

We can't wait to see everyone at Play in Hallam again in a few weeks for October Half Term-both the staff and the kids! With a crazy, fun bunch like this, it makes going to work fun! This snap from the summer brings back some great memories of all the fun we had, can't wait to make more memories this holiday!

Join us this October Half Term and try your hand at street art! Our professional street artist will be coming into teach the children some tricks of the trade and everyone will get chance to create their own street art. This is a first for 'Play in' and we can't wait to see the results!

We are very proud to announce that Play in Harrogate will be working in partnership with Leeds United FC to provide fun football sessions with the children at the club this October Half Term!

Play in Ecclesall & Play in Hallam will both be welcoming ceramics and craft company 'Painted Cup' to lead a ceramics workshop this October Half Term. Children will be able to make their own pot and you will then be given the option to pay for it to be taken away, glazed, and delivered back to you. This is an exciting chance to learn a new skill, and maybe even get a Christmas present made early! Please see the online schedule to see which days they will be at which club.

We're excited to announce that both Play in Ecclesall and Play in Hallam holiday clubs will be welcoming Sheffield United football coaches for the first time this October Half Term (we've had Sheffield Wednesday coaches in before so we've got to play fair!) Please see schedules to see which day they will be at which club. Don't forget to bring your football boots (if you have them)! 

Exciting news!! We will be opening a new Holiday club in Harrogate this October Half Term. Due to the popularity of both Play in Ecclesall and Play in Hallam holiday clubs, we have decided to expand out of Sheffield and open our newest holiday club in Harrogate.
